With the rise in cases of COVID-19 throughout the U.S. more and more employers are utilizing a completely remote workforce. Many parts of the country are already in lockdown with more area likely to follow suit. Schools in our state have been doing online class for nearly a month and technology is being used more than ever.
Communication Is Key in These Times
Knowing the work environment for employees and how they mange their workflow allows managers to keep pace with productivity in what Time magazine calls “The World’s Largest Work-From-Home Experiment.”
Technology plays a key role in keeping up with work from a virtual office. Having the basics like internet access and functional devices are only the beginning. Video conferencing has become the new norm for team meetings and check ins and is a vital resource for information and to maintain relationships both internally and with clients and customers. A VPN, data backup, collaborating through programs like Office365 and maintaining security are all vital for a remote workforce.
According to a recent Galluup poll, 43% of U.S. employees work remotely some or all of the time. Remote workers are often more productive and profitable too. Companies are having to be more agile and flexible and this change is only going to benefit businesses as we get back to “normal.”
